In vivo neuron-glia interaction, Cerebral corticalhippocampal microcircuitry

脳の神経回路を研究するにあたり、従来ではスライス標本で実験されてきましたが、当研究ユニットでは動物を生きたままの状態イン・ビボ (in vivo)の状態で神経細胞及びグリア細胞から生理的信号を記録・解析していきます。この手法の利点は、神経細胞間のネットワークが損なわれることがないので、神経細胞群の集団的活動および自発発火が観測できることです。電気生理的な手法と二光子励起イメージングを組み合わせ、ネットワークレベルでの大脳皮質の神経ダイナミクスを課題としています。
