Objectives |
Information is represented in the brain by spatio-temporal patterns of excitation spread over a large number of neurons. The brain processes information in parallel by dynamics interactions of neurons so that surprisingly high, efficient and flexible information processing is realized. The brain creates a model of the world inside it by learning and self-organization so that it can behave positively in the environment.
The target of the Laboratory is to establish a new type of
information science by establishing mathematical foundations of
neurocomputing. This is an important and indispensable step toward
understanding how the brain works. This is also a necessary step toward
creating brain-style information technology at the same time. |
