Laboratory for Neurogenetics

Laboratory Head: Kazuhiro Yamakawa

The isolation and characterization of neurological disease genes contribute not only to the diagnoses and treatments of diseases, but also contribute to the understanding of the basic molecular mechanism of brain such as memory and emotion. Our objective is to identify those genes related to epilepsy and mental retardation by using techniques of molecular genetics, and characterize their functions by using techniques of anatomy, molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology, and finally contribute to the advance of medicine.
